The Ark Open Farm
The Ark Open Farm is a fantastic family day out; the farm itself is set in 40 acres of beautiful countryside between Newtownards and Bangor. It’s home to a huge selection of farm animals and some that are a little more exotic.
We opened the farm back in 1990 as one of the first open farms in Northern Ireland specialising in rare breeds of farm animals. Over the years we have added to our collection as well as developing our facilities to include indoor & outdoor play areas, quad & tractor rides and a really cool fairy-tale forest.
The Ark Open Farm is a family run business and our team consists of passionate, animal loving folks who strive to make your experience on the farm extra special.
There is something for everyone; animals, activities, lovely food and friendly people.

A Fun Filled Family Day Out
Fantastic day at ark farm, my 5 year old daughter was delighted to be able to feed the baby goats and calves and had an amazing day. The huge Ark was fantastic and gave loads of photo opportunities. Loads to see and do and have heard of all the new additions so will definitely go again soon
Simple Fun Modern – Ultimately creative
What a beautiful creative place, from the Fairy forest to the bouncing bubble and the wide slide. It was nice to have a playground and farm that offered some novelty. Lovely place. You can eat in or take your own picnic. Affordable.
Big Kids at heart had to go to the farm
Went here to see the animals and yes I’m a big kid at heart. Was delighted to be able to pet the sheep and lambs and goats as you usually don’t get to do that, so couldn’t have been happier about it. There’s a big variety of animals from farm animals to birds and reptiles. Definitely a place to bring little ones and even for the big kids at heart.
Great place for a toddler’s birthday
Just back from our birthday party at the Ark. the kids had a great time! Had a wee guided tour of the animals and then had lunch in a private room. The food was of a really high standard and the kids really enjoyed playing in the mini playground. We could have had a wander round the rest of the farm too, but the kids were exhausted after the sugar rush wore off. A very happy birthday boy.
The only farm in Northern Ireland to stay open all year long!
