Job Position: Cook / Chef
Job Types: Part-time
Salary: from £14 / hour
Expected hours: 20 hours per week including 1 weekend day
About Us: The Ark Open Farm is an award‑winning, family‑run visitor attraction with a well‑loved café that plays a central role in our guests’ experience. As our café continues to go from strength to strength, we are looking to welcome friendly, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to join our kitchen and café team.
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Cook/Chef to join our farm café team. This is a hands-on kitchen role suited to someone who enjoys a busy, fast-paced environment and can work flexibly across the year in line with seasonal demand.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to a high standard
- Operate fryers and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Support menu preparation, prep work and stock rotation
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards (HACCP compliant)
- Assist with ordering and stock control where required
- Work as part of a small team to deliver fast service during peak periods
- Support special events and seasonal busy periods (Easter, Halloween, Christmas, school holidays)
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen (café/restaurant setting preferred)
- Confident cooking independently and working under pressure
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Reliable, flexible and able to work weekends and holidays as required
- Team player with a positive attitude
Desirable Qualifications
- Level 2 Food Safety qualification
- Experience working in high-volume café or visitor attraction settings
