Job description
Job Position: Front of House Café Assistant
Job Types: Part-time
Salary: from £10.85 / hour dependant on age & experience
Available hours: Flexible
About Us: The Ark Open Farm is an award‑winning, family‑run visitor attraction with a well‑loved café that plays a central role in our guests’ experience. As our café continues to go from strength to strength, we are looking to welcome friendly, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to join our kitchen and café team.
This role involves serving customers, operating the till, preparing drinks, and keeping the café clean and welcoming. The café can be very busy at weekends and during school holidays, so a calm and positive approach is essential
Responsibilities
- Serve customers at the counter and provide excellent customer service
- Operate the till and handle payments accurately
- Prepare hot drinks and assist with basic food service
- Clear and clean tables, maintain café cleanliness throughout the day
- Assist with washing up and supporting the kitchen team when needed
- Support service during busy periods including weekends, bank holidays and school holidays
- Help with seasonal events and outdoor service areas (including ice cream/snack hut where required)
Essential Requirements
- Friendly, outgoing personality and strong customer service skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
- Reliable and punctual with good teamwork skills
- Willingness to work weekends and peak holiday periods
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in a café, restaurant or hospitality setting
- Barista experience (training can be provided)
